Dynamic Balance on the Stability Ball Level 2

10:30 am to 12:30pm

In this workshop, developed by the Merrithew™ team, torso stability is further challenged with major emphasis placed on balance and proprioception. This fun and invigorating workout truly challenges the core with specific exercises reminiscent of moves on the Reformer, designed to increase strength and mobility of the whole body.

The Knee: Reformer Programming for Stability & Function

1:00pm to 3:00pm

The knee is a complex structure that can experience any number of injuries or conditions that interrupt normal functioning. This lecture/demo-style workshop, developed by the Merrithew™ team, begins by exploring the anatomy and biomechanics involved in the normal healthy functioning of the knee, followed by a discussion of some of the more common dysfunctions caused by injury or disease.

Lastly, learn a variety of exercise progressions using a variety of Pilates equipment designed to be implemented in a post-rehabilitative setting to rebuild normal muscle action and movement patterning. Designed to prepare the body for specific activities and enhance performance, these exercises can challenge and promote optimal functioning.

The Shoulder Girdle: Reformer Programming for Stability & Function

3:30pm to 5:30pm

The shoulder girdle is a complex structure that is subjected to stresses in everyday life and even more stress during extreme activities. In this lecture/demo-style workshop developed by the Merrithew team, discover how Pilates programming on the Reformer can be ideal in a post-rehabilitative setting.

First, explore the anatomy and biomechanics involved in the normal, healthy functioning of the shoulder girdle, then, discuss common abnormal or dysfunctional movement patterns that can result from injury or strain. Finally, learn how specially selected exercises on the Reformer can address these issues by creating awareness, stability and strength. Exercises are layered to restore functional mobility, then progress to work-hardening activities and performance enhancement

About Michelle

Michelle, from Sydney, Australia, has both a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts (Dance) degrees. She became a fully certified STOTT PILATES® Instructor in 2003, and later that year went on to become an Instructor Trainer.

She is now an IT for Merrithew specializing in STOTT PILATES full repertoire. Over the past 14 years, she has taught hundreds of STOTT PILATES courses and workshops in the US, Canada, Brazil, Hong Kong, New Zealand, the Philippines, the US and the UAE. Michelle is an intrepid traveler who loves an adventure.
